Testing task: Request information about a listbox popup

With JAWS in PC cursor active mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "With focus on an option in the listbox popup, read information about the listbox popup."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that expands the combobox, sets the combobox value to 'Alabama' and places focus on that option in the listbox popup.
  3. Press Alt+Delete to determine which cursor is active. If the virtual cursor is active, press Insert+z to disable the virtual cursor.
  4. With focus on an option in the listbox popup, read information about the listbox popup.
  5. Using the following commands, With focus on an option in the listbox popup, read information about the listbox popup.
    • Insert+Tab (PC cursor active)

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role of the popup ('listbox') is conveyed
  2. Name of the popup ('States') is conveyed
  3. Text of the focused option in the popup ('Alabama') is conveyed
  4. State of the focused option in the popup (selected) is conveyed
  5. Position of the focused option in the popup (1) is conveyed
  6. Number of options in the popup (56) is conveyed
