Testing task: Navigate forwards out of a main landmark

With JAWS in PC cursor active mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "With focus on the 'Bottom' link, navigate to the 'Navigate backwards from here' link."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets focus on the 'Bottom' link.
  3. Press Alt+Delete to determine which cursor is active. If the virtual cursor is active, press Insert+z to disable the virtual cursor.
  4. With focus on the 'Bottom' link, navigate to the 'Navigate backwards from here' link.
  5. Using the following commands, With focus on the 'Bottom' link, navigate to the 'Navigate backwards from here' link.
    • Down Arrow then Down Arrow (virtual cursor active)
    • u (virtual cursor active)
    • Shift+Period then Down Arrow (virtual cursor active)
    • Tab (virtual cursor active)
    • Tab (PC cursor active)

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Main landmark boundary is conveyed
  2. Role 'link' is conveyed
  3. Name 'Navigate backwards from here' is conveyed
