Testing task: Navigate to the last item in a menu

With JAWS in PC cursor active mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "With focus on the 'W3C Home Page' menu item, navigate to the 'Accessible Name and Description' menu item."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that opens the menu, and sets focus on 'W3C Home Page'.
  3. Press Alt+Delete to determine which cursor is active. If the virtual cursor is active, press Insert+z to disable the virtual cursor.
  4. With focus on the 'W3C Home Page' menu item, navigate to the 'Accessible Name and Description' menu item.
  5. Using the following commands, With focus on the 'W3C Home Page' menu item, navigate to the 'Accessible Name and Description' menu item.
    • End (PC cursor active)
    • Up Arrow (PC cursor active)

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role of the focused item, 'menu item', is conveyed
  2. Name of the focused item, 'Accessible Name and Description', is conveyed
  3. Position of the focused item in the menu (6) is conveyed
  4. Number of items in the menu (6) is conveyed
